White Copal Resin Incense 1oz. Tin
Copal is a resin that is revered by many cultures, and has been used since ancient times. It was used in ceremonies to help clear energy, for purification and protection. Copal is native to Mexico and Central American, and is considered a sacred resin or ‘blood of the trees’. The Mayan and Aztec cultures used this for divination, and to give homage and offering to their gods.
Copal resin comes from the hardened sap of a tree (Protium copal/Burseraceae), and the pitch pine tree (Pinus pseudostrobus) during the mid stage of polymerization and hardening, between the ‘gummier’ forms, and Amber. This aromatic resin has its name derived from the Nahuatl language of copalli, meaning ‘incense’. There are different types of Copal and colors ranging from a milky white, to a rich golden, a deep darker color, and Mayan. Copal is also found in other countries, and is utilized for its medicinal properties and ceremonial rituals.
