There are different types of Shungite. Type I, II (Petrovsky), and III (Noble Elite). Shungite is mined in the famous deposits of Karelia, Russia. All Shungite are carbon based stones, and Nobel Elite contains naturally occurring molecules called Fullerenes. These have been confirmed to contain antibacterial microbes based on the Nobel Prize in Science, 1996. The Nobel Elite form has approx. 98% carbon content, and is a shiny silvery-black color. Soapstone is a type of talc/shist metamorphic rock, also known as ‘steatite or soap-rock’, and is rich in magnesium. This wonderful mineral has been used by different cultures and ancient civilizations for thousands of years for utensils, sculptures and ornamental jewelry.
