Moldavite is a Tektite, and a natural glass which was created by a meteorite impact near the Czech Republic somewhere around 14.5 million years ago in the mid-European tektite field in Bohemia. This amazing mineral is an amorphous SiO2 silica glass with ‘wires’ of Lechatelierite which forms at very high temperature due to shock metamorphism, lightening strike, or impact cratering.
